Celebrate Halloween with Edwardsville’s Bar Babes

Local Edwardsville women’s group, The Bar Babes, will get together to celebrate Halloween at St.Louis‘ Lemp Mansion Restaurant & Inn on October 1.

There will be a cocktail hour with private VIP haunted tour of the mansion at 6 pm.

This will be followed by a special Murder Mystery Dinner Theater from 7 pm to 10 pm.

The menu will cost $48.95 per person.

Edwardsville Bar Babes August Recap

Hello BABES!

Friday’s bB Progressive Dinner Event was even bigger than expected! What a good crowd! I guess when you tempt us ladies with some good food & good drinks, you’re bound to have huge attraction!

We started at Big Daddy’s around 5pm… The area was all ready for us with our “barBABES Progressive Dinner logo” on several tables. We had a great spot, with our OWN FAN and waitress! The drinks were nice and cold and the apps were amazing! THANK YOU Big Daddy’s!

We headed over to Laurie’s Place right around 7:00 where several more BABES were waiting for us! ….Again, in a reserved area just for us.

The place was hoppin’ and Laurie made sure we were all taken care of. The food was great and all came out together and in good time! WOW! Huge shout out for Miss Laurie in preparing our arrival and making it a smooth as possible. Most everyone got out of there with dinner & drinks for under $20.00! Along, with some great 80’s Entertainment! She’s running one helleva gig there and we appreciate her accommodations for nearly 40 BABES! Kudos to Laurie’s Place! Whoop whoop!

Next, we scurried over to Fond Fine Dining a little after 9:00 (can you believe all of us woman stayed on our time schedule?) for a little dessert to sum up or eating experience for the night! Although, it was a little more “fine dining” than what we were up to, most of us enjoyed sharing a creative dish over some laughs and conversation with more BABES that had met us there! Thanks to Fond for hosting us BABES and showing us some Beverly Hills style dining!

LAST STOP was back to Big Daddy’s for some good “wholesome” Fun & shaking our rumps! The music was kickin’ & the ummm… “entertainment” was even more fun to watch! Not sure I’ve laughed that hard in a long time….Wow. Good times, good times. What do they say, “What goes on at Big Daddy’s, stays at Big Daddy’s?” Haa! If you didn’t make it, you’ll have to remain in suspense! ;o)

I would like to send an ENORMOUS Babe-o-liscious shout out to DANA COOK-KENT for “working” all night! We sold some serious bB attire! Pretty soon we’re going to have the ‘Ville sportin’ lots of hot pink and black! Shirts should arrive in time for distribution at our next September Event! Whoop Whoop! You have until the 18th to turn your order & payment in for apparel! Let me know if you have any questions! I’ve attached the order form again.

Edwardsville Bar Babes July Event

The Edwardsville Bar Babes celebrate Christmas this July, with food, drinks and fun on the beach. The event will take place on Friday, July 2 in Holiday Shores at The Beacon Inn starting at 6:30 pm. The theme for this month is Christmas in July. The bar babes are asking that attendees make their own ornament for gift exchange. Remember, if you’re planning on drinking, make sure to have something worked out with a designated driver ahead of time. The BABES of Edwarsville

On a cold night in February, with sleet falling and freezing roads, 15 Edwardsville women managed to make it out to Buffalo Wild Wings for the inaugural meeting of the Babes.

Considering the weather, it was an auspicious start, and perhaps a foreshadowing of what a hit the idea would be.

Just four months later, Babes founder Amanda Brase estimates she has 90 members that come out the first Friday of each month at an Edwardsville area bar for drinks and conversation.

And the girls are catching some attention. Last month, they were invited on St. Louis’ Dave Glover Show at 97.1 Talk.

Amanda says she had been a member of an Edwardsville group called Dining Divas, that did the same thing, but went to restaurants instead. That group broke up a little more than a year ago.

“I missed the comaraderie of all my friends,” says Amanda, adding that this time, she wanted something more casual and laid back.

And so she started Babes. She says the group that has formed so far is diverse.

“We come from every walk of life – married, single, professionals, moms….”

The average age, she says, is mid-thirties, although it ranges quite a bit.

She also notes that, although the group gets together at drinking establishments, it’s not all about drinking, and, in fact, there are several members who do not drink at all.

“Not everybody drinks,” says Amanda. “A lot of it is just to get together and get some food and have conversations.”

Amanda is a busy person, working full time and raising two children with her husband. Part of the reason this has caught on, she says, is because it gives women like herself a night of their own.

“It’s something to look forward to and plan for every month. Something we can put on the calendar and know, “Hey, that’s my night.”

Of course, the atmosphere of the events has certainly attracted people as well.

“There’s been business deals that have been made, we’ve brought a lot of friends together that haven’t seen each other for a long time, and a lot of connections have been made,” Amanda says.

In April, Babes had an “adult Easter egg hunt” while doing a pub crawl in St. Charles.

“There was lots of laughing,” says Amanda. “There were some adult items that got put into our Easter eggs.”

On June 4 they plan on having their next even at Springer’s Creek in Edwardsville, with a “Bring a loved one” theme. After that, it’s “Christmas in July.” She says the group is currently looking into doing a charitable event in the future.

Amanda says the group is very careful to prevent drunk driving from any of its events. When they have something out of town, such as the Dave Glover show or the pub crawl in St. Charles, they hire a bus. When they’re in town, she says they have designated drivers, usually a combination of members that don’t drink and husbands gracious enough to do some shuttling.

“The group that I have, that’s one of the most important things to them,” says Amanda. “If they can’t arrange a ride, they choose not to go.”
