Edwardsville‘s maintstreet is having a sidewalk sale from 10 a.m to 6 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
Rebecca of Afterwords Bookstore talked to me and filled me in on the details. The Historic Edwardsville Retail Association (a collection of downtown businesses working to revitalize main street) has come together and decided on doing the side walk sale this year in full force.
“Wait!” you may cry, “There have been side walk sales in the past.”
Yes, there have. But Rebecca has informed me that the businesses of Main Street have gotten together to cooridinate two full days of awesomeness. Most of the businesses of Main Street are throwing in to help out (I wasn’t able to get a “yes” from every business so I don’t want to say all of them, but a majority will be participating) and offeirng discounts and deals on different products.
To add to the charm of a weekend side walk sale, tenatively themed “Enjoy Old Town,” there will also be a clown wandering the streets to entertain the children. If that’s quaint enough though then stand back! There will also be lemonade stands ran by children. Be sure to swing by and check it out, and if you get a chance to go out Saturday take in the Goshen Market and 222 Bakery’s bacon waffles!
