December Music Guide

Wow, another month has gone by. Time for another music guide. Despite the holidays, there’s plenty of great music coming to Edwardsville. No need to drive in horrible traffic to some giant stadium named after a trans-national corporation when we’ve got great musicians coming to us. Enjoy this resource, pass it on if you enjoy it, (we’ve got all the fance “share” and “retweet” buttons to make it easy) and let us know if we’re missing anything. Or you can live chat with us here.
Wednesday, December 2
Check out local staple Mo’ Pleasure Band.
Thursday, December 3
We’ve got a nice contrast between St. Louis dirty southern rock band Feather and Stone or Edwardsville reggae/blues band Aaron Kamm & the One Drops, or just chill out and listen to Jason Garms on the acoustic.
Friday, December 4
Lots of choices tonight, with St. Louis reggae veterans Dubtronix, a live DJ downtown, and some mellow acoustic guitar.
Saturday, December 5
Catch some good old fashioned honky tonk with Miss Terri and the LeRoys, or check out The Edge at Laurie’s.
Sunday, December 6
Brush up your own skills at open mic night.
Thursday, December 10
Like bluegrass, progressive rock and reggae? Get them all in one band with Spotting Waldo, or check out up-and-coming Matt Rowland Band.
Friday, December 11
Longtime local blues man Marcel Strong (see video below) cranks it out downtown, and Who’s Drivin’ brings in some classic rock.
Saturday, December 12
Check out some great, gravelly-voiced Americana with Don Starwalt or check out a band known as The Alley, who we haven’t yet found much info about (contact us or put something in comments if you have info). Or you can head out to Collinsville for the Rummage Sale of Rock, literally a show with a series of local bands and a rummage sale.
Thursday, December 17
Check out Kentucky Knife Fight, one of the most kick-butt bands to come out of Edwardsville, or chill out to some live acoustic music by Jason Grams.
Friday, December 18
Tonight you can go with bluegrass band Cumberland Gap, or take your chances with the Matt Steel Band, who is relatively unknown, as far as the internet is concerned.
Saturday, December 19
The Melroys (I love this name, for some reason) cover classic rock and play originals, while Rukus plays everything from Metallica to the Beastie Boys.
Thursday, December 24
The Sunday Dinner Band plays on a Thursday? I know nothing about what this band plays (once again drop us a line if you’ve got any info) but the first thing I think of is the killer pork roast my mom sometimes cooks on Sunday afternoons. Mmmmmmmmm. If that’s not so appetizing for you, Rukus is in town again.
Friday, December 25
Merry Christmas! Believe it or not you can check out some live music that isn’t a church choir, with The Heaters.
Saturday, December 26
The Soulard Blues Band brings some classic St. Louis blues to Edwardsville (see video below).
