Wake up sleepy heads of Edwardsville! Pull yourself out of bed, get dressed, and bring yourself down to the Goshen Market on Saturdays. Don’t waste time either, don’t moan and bedraggle for a quick round of email checking (unless of course your seeing the updates on Edwardsville Scene, then by any means…) get yourself dressed and go.
Edwardsville’s Goshen Market is only open for four hours every Saturday, 8 am to noon, and if you don’t get there. you’ll miss out. For those of you who have to wonder at what you are missing out on (shame on you for not knowing about this awesome little bit of Edwardsville culture, it has been around since 1997!) take a stroll down the street right between the court house’s side and the old bank building. You’ll find fresh produce from local growers along with an assortment of nuts, honey, and flowers available to you direct from the producer.
If you don’t need any produce Saturday morning, no big deal, Goshen market doesn’t just deal in produce. Goshen Market also has vendors offering jewelry, paintings, and a collection of other things. Be sure to bring cash! No where on the site does it mention any availability in regards to credit/debit cards.
While I absolutely love the market, my schedule never lets make it in May. Don’t let yourself make the same mistake. I miss out on fresh asparagus and strawberries (things I absolutely love) don’t let the same thing happen to you.
If you head over to Goshen Market’s website they have a seasonal produce schedule. Check it out if you get a chance and know what fresh veggie goodness to expect when you go out this next Saturday. With all of the awesome produce in season you won’t leave disappointed. If you want more information swing by their website at www.goshenmarket.org.
