Edwardsville November Music Guide

Looking at the quantity of music events we have entered so far for this month (check out the videos above to get a taste of a few), we decided it might be good to round up a general description of them in a single spot, so our readers can see the whole thing at once, and start making their plans. Click on the names of the bands for full details on where, they are playing, times, video and more. Also, I’m sure there’s more music events going on, so please, if you’ve got something, let us know about it by clicking here. We’ll post it and add it to the list for free.

Tuesday, November 17

Check out some big band jazz over at the SIUE campus.

Wednesday, November 18

Check out Mark Holland and Autumn’s Child on the SIUE campus. The music ensemble has played a host of fantastic venues, and delivers a fascinating blend of world music, jazz and other styles.

Thursday, November 19

Tough choices tonight. St. Louis Band Target Market plays indie rock, while Spotting Waldo, which combines sounds of reggae, prog-rock, and bluegrass plays just down the street.

Friday, November 20

Promises to be a blue night. Get a taste of some real St. Louis Blues with the Ground Floor Band, or check out some blue grass at the Cumberland Gap show.

Saturday, November 21

Oh, Alchemy plays music that I have a hard time pigeonholing. Seems worth checking out, for this reason alone.

Thursday, November 26

Music on Thanksgiving? We’re double checking this, but right now we have it that the Flatwheel Band is playing some classic country music, which might be just the thing to kick back to if you’ve got nowhere else to be on Thanksgiving Night.

Friday, November 27

Work off those turkey calories and dancing to the Mississippi Sheiks tonight.

That’s it for now. Once again, if you’ve got some music to add to the list, click here and let us know about it.

Events listed below have expired

Friday, November 6

We start the month a little late (because we just came up with the idea of putting this together last night) with The Suitcase Nukes, a local band that covers everything from Ben Folds to Hendrix, Rancid to The Raconteurs. This is actually the night of the dueling cover bands, with Rukus also playing renditions of music from The Beastie Boys, The Ramones, Metallica and more.

Saturday, November 7

Tonight brings an interesting mixture of classic rock with Who’s Drivin’, and “grassic rock” the name Pik ‘n Lik’ ‘n gives to their style of blue grass.

Sunday, November 8

Tonight it’s your turn, Edwardsville, with Open Mic Night at The Stagger, hosted by Butch Moore. This is a great place for novice and expert musicians alike, and the birthplace of at least a few of Edwardsville’s local bands.

Thursday, November 12

Check out folk musician Kevin Danzig tonight for something different, or check out tried and true local reggae-blues band Aaron Kamm and the One Drops. We’ve got some video of both these bands for you to check out.

Friday, November 13

Tonight we’ve got local staple Mo’ Pleasure Band, or some live blues and jazz with Marcel Strong.

Saturday, November 14

Check out local group The Matt Rowland Band.
